Hugh River Holdings

The only commercially producing hay farm in Central Australia commenced in 1982-83 covering an area of 140 acres (57 hectares). In the early days four travelling sprinklers were used, these being replaced by an 80 acre Centre Pivot System in 1986.

Over the years Hugh River Holdings has supplied hay for live buffalo export to Indonesia and as far afield as Darwin and Adelaide. The majority of the hay today is sold locally.

One thousand tonnes of hay is produced annually with a variety of lucerne, sorghum and oats being available.
