Lilla Creek Station

Lilla Creek is 2923 square kilometres or 292300 hectares and is located 430 kms south east of Alice Springs. The lease surrounds a junction of two major water courses, the Finke River and Lilla Creek. The annual average, predominantly Summer rainfall, on Lilla Creek is approximately 200mm (8 inches) per annum.

Prior to its commencement in 1944, Lilla Creek Station was part of the large Crown Point Holdings which was originally taken up in 1881. Some points of interest on Lilla Creek include the Lambert Centre, which is the geographical centre of Australia, the Finke River, Old Crown Well, Crown Point and the remains of the Old Telegraph line.

Lilla Creek was purchased by Fogarty Holdings in 1984 to accommodate their large family and developing business. Lilla Creek is currently managed by Don and Colleen Costello with active participation from their two children. A successful Poll Hereford/Angus herd now operates in conjunction with a Quarterhorse and Australian Stock horse breeding program. Tanya and Peter have both attended ASSOA.
