We are pleased to welcome new students and their families to ASSOA. Our team of staff look forward to being a positive part of your child’s learning journey.

Enrolment eligibility
Alice Springs School of the Air provides distance education services from Preschool to Year 9 under several enrolment categories. Prospective students must meet the enrolment criteria for the distance education school enrolment categories.
Please read the relevant Enrolment Guidelines to determine if your child is eligible to enrol with our school.

Location
Geographically isolated students who live in the southern half of the NT, or just over the NT border in QLD, SA or WA are eligible to enrol with us.
International students can also enrol with us via NT Government International Education, but additional fees may apply.

Age of entry policy
Children turning four on or before June 30 are eligible to enrol in the regular preschool program at the commencement of the school year. Children turning four after June 30 are eligible to enrol in the preschool program after their birthday, if places are available and with the understanding that the child may need to access more than 12 months of preschool. Enrolments of children turning four after June 30 will be negotiated on a case by case basis within the scope of the DoE Age of Entry Policy.
Children turning five on or before June 30 are eligible to enrol in a Transition program at the commencement of the school year. Children who turn five after June 30 are eligible to enrol in a Transition program from the commencement of the following school year.
School of the Air requires proof of date of birth and a copy of a student’s Medicare details on enrolment.

Process
Once you have determined your child’s eligibility and have the required documents and forms as outlined in the relevant enrolment guidelines, please contact the school to make a time for a pre-enrolment interview.
All new students and their families are invited to our school for an enrolment interview prior to commencement where you will meet our staff, tour the school and learn more about our unique learning environment.
In order to make the enrolment process simple for you, please either complete the online enrolment form or complete the PDF form here and email it to assoa@assoa.nt.edu.au. Please be aware that you will be required to present and sign all enrolment forms on your first visit to our school.
In addition to your enrolment forms you will also be required to present the following documentation:

  • A copy of the student’s Birth Certificate or Proof of Australian Citizenship or, if the student is not an Australian citizen, a copy of their Visa and Passport
  • A copy of the student’s medical records- eg immunisation
  • A copy of the student’s file from previous school and the student’s most recent school report (if transferring from interstate or another school)
  • Contact details of a person from the student’s previous school for additional information (if transferring from interstate or another school)
